"You hungry? Well, at least I brought a nice big blanket." he said wryly. "We could cuddle up in here to take your mind off it?"
'This is imposible!' she thought as he let the wind majestically sail it open. 'If I sit on that blanket, I will be committed to spend a moment in hell with someone right now I think I hate.'
She texted over and over how great the idea of a picnic under the Tour Eiffel on the Summer Solstice in Paris would be. It was a childhood dream of hers.
'Nice blanket but what a jerk!' None of it made sense.
She stood with arms crossed as he took off his shoes and put one on each corner.
"Gimme your shoe." he said with one palm open and the other on her arm.
She didn't budge.
He stood up, glanced over her shoulder and bent to her ear and whispered,
"In about 10 seconds," he slips another look to make sure, "you're going to have the best picnic imaginable, one you will remember forever and will talk about for rest of your life. Five..., Four..., Three..., Two...,"
'Monsieur Dame!' a man close behind calls as she yelps into the air. "Permettez-moi."
Before she knew it, her shoes were off, a server had dropped from the sky and on the blanket an amazing presentation was being set up that made her head spin, her mouth water and eyes tear up with delight.
She grabbed the picnic menu she created in her mind way back when and wrote down what she saw.
'Merci Monsieur.' her date said, as he palmed the waiter a few Euros.
'Pas de quoi.' A Champagne pop made the server turn from his march down Champs de Mars with a big wave.
She jumped in the air and threw a kiss as if she could fly while a few around them applauded and cheered.
But for the rest of their time there on that picnic blanket, often returning to the moment they just shared together; the whole evening was their's alone.
